Bishop Frank J. Caggiano

Bishop of Bridgeport, CT

The Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano was installed as Fifth Bishop of Bridgeport on September 19, 2013 at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull. From the time he arrived in the Diocese, Bishop Caggiano has made a priority the active engagement of all the faithful in the great project of the New Evangelization.

It was in that spirit that he convoked the 4th Synod of the Diocese of Bridgeport in 2014 which sought to discern ways in which the local Church might empower youth, build up the community of faith, foster evangelical outreach, and promote works of charity and justice.

How will this Conference help you

In the past, the Church sent forth missionaries to evangelize six of the seven continents on the face of the earth. A new continent in need of evangelization has arisen, namely the digital continent in which many people spend vast amounts of time. Younger people are especially at home in this digital continent, yet their hearts will be forever restless unless they rest in the Lord. This Conference will explore how the Directory for Catechesis (2020) and the bishops of the United States approach the new opportunities to present an Evangelizing Catechesis in a digital culture, and how the digital culture might be transformed through the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
