In order for catechesis to be effective for Catholic formation, participants need to find the content meaningful and be able to integrate it into their lives. In this presentation, we will discuss how narrative elements and the use of imaginative literature are particularly effective in bridging the \u2018meaning gap\u2019 and providing ways for participants to assimilate what they are taught. A Q&A will be included in the latter part of the presentation.<\/div>

Dr. Holly Ordway<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t

Holly\u00a0Ordway<\/strong>\u00a0is the Cardinal Francis George Professor of Faith and Culture at the Word on Fire Institute, and Visiting Professor of Apologetics at Houston Christian University. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is a subject editor for the\u00a0Journal of Inklings Studies<\/em>. She is the author of the award-winning\u00a0Tolkien\u2019s Modern Reading: Middle-earth Beyond the Middle Ages<\/a><\/em>, and her book\u00a0Tolkien\u2019s Faith: A Spiritual Biography<\/a><\/em>\u00a0was released in 2023, in time for the 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of Tolkien\u2019s death.<\/p>

She has also contributed chapters on C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien to volumes such as\u00a0Tolkien Among the Theologians, Life on the Silent Planet: Essays in Christian Living from C.S. Lewis\u2019s Ransom Trilogy, C.S. Lewis in Poets\u2019 Corner<\/em>,\u00a0The Inklings and King Arthur<\/em>, and\u00a0C.S. Lewis\u2019s List<\/em>.<\/p>
